Tsunami washed up creatures from deep in the sea, NOT!

The Tsunami, December 26, 2004, was a huge natural disaster. There are many pictures, from earth orbit to closeup, each with its story. The Lioness' best friend Uzi was killed. Please comfort her. http://lioness-pride.blogspot.com/ There were miracles reported. Shmuel Janah lost everything he had in the tsunami except for his life, passport, prayer shawl (tallit) and phylacteries (tefillin - worn during weekday morning prayers). (forwarded by my rebbe.) Ancient knowledge saved endangered tribes from the tsunami, said a fascinating LA Times story by Paul Watson, 2/3/2005. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-tribes3feb03,0,2790810.story?coll=la-home-world Another marvel, search for "tsunami ancient city" to see the washed up ruins. Relief is still sought. Donations for this relief effort are being sought and can be made by mail, phone or Web site: American Jewish World Service, Asia Tsunami Relief, 45 West 36th Street, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10018, 800-889-7146 or make a secure, online donation now.https://secure3.ctsg.com/AJWS/donation/index.asp?Item=167
The following applies to the pictures: Not from the Tsunami, but another (urban?) myth. This work is copyright. It is owned by both the Australian and New Zealand Governments. (Thanks Josh Waxman for pointing to the source) See all the original photos at http://www.snopes.com/photos/tsunami/creature.asp .

Comments:
Thank you. Loved the fish pictures, seems somehow to balance the whole thing a bit if we can learn a bit more abt what goes on down there.

The pictures are not from the tsunami. They date from mid-2003 and were taken as part of the NORFANZ voyage, a joint Australian-New Zealand research expedition conducted in May-June 2003 to explore deep sea habitats and biodiversity in the Tasman Sea.

Snopes has a page on this, with pictures:
